TO AALBORG UNIVERSITY

By bus

From the centre of town, one can take the frequent metro bus 2 or the less frequent 12 to the University. They all run beside Kroghstraede 3, a short walk from our building. Both buses start from Nytorv, the main square in town, and pass close to Prinsen Hotel and Park Hotel. They can be picked up on the main road near the railway/bus station just 200 metres from both of these hotels (make sure you are going the right direction).

If you catch the bus 2 or 12, then ask the driver for the Kroghstraede stop just before the junction with Frederik Bajers Vej.

All the bus trips cost 16 kronor. But you can buy a 10 trip 2-zone clip card that gives you a cheaper fare for ten trips (including transfers). This should be bought in a kiosk (for example in the railway station) for 104 kronor. If you are going to make more than 6 trips, it is worth it. Just clip the card in the machine when you enter the bus.

The key identifying landmark when you exit the bus is a new two-storey building with a big black square cube attached to it (the centre of the building over the atrium has a distinctive roof like the wing of a plane). This is the new Humanities building, in which all Centre activities take place.

The city bus company has online timetables (in Danish!):

Metro bus Line 2 - from Nytorv. Very frequent service during the day (roughly every 5 to 10 minutes).

Ordinary bus Line 12 - from Nytorv every 15 minutes.

Both buses run in the evening as well.

By car

The main campus is relatively easy to find, but it is spread out. After following Niels Bohr Vej, turn onto Frederik Bajers Vej - the site is just off this major road. There is ample free parking right outside the building, marked on map 2.

TO AALBORG CITY

By air

Once you have arrived at Aalborg Airport, you can take a taxi or metro bus 2 to the city centre (and selected hotels). The trip takes only 20 minutes. The bus frequency is every 15 minutes (peak time), every 30 minutes (off-peak) and every hour (Sundays and holidays), and can be picked up just outside the main entrance. Incidentally, bus 2 continues through the centre of town to the university campus (and stops outside our building). Taxis to the centre of Aalborg cost about 110 DKK, and about 180 DKK to the University.

By train

The train trip from Copenhagen to Aalborg is approximately 4 1/2 hours. Seat reservation is advised. The railway station is next to the bus station and very close to the city centre and the buses (numbers 2 and 12) to the University.
